I live north of Atlanta with my husband and 4 children. We are living the life that I could have only dreamed of 10 years ago. And guess what, it’s nothing out of the ordinary. We are renters, commuters, and public school-goers. We have laundry, dishes, and yard work. But, we are doing our best to live intentionally in the chaos of life.

We’ve never been the ones to do things the way other people have, often unintentionally so, and sometimes it has felt like we’ve been behind by way of the world’s standards. But you know what, we are building a life slow and steady, piece by piece. We’ve decided to take the scenic route and enjoy the ride.

Daily Hacks

  • 1. Do one load of laundry a day.

Put a laundry basket in a common space (ours is in the hallway between our bedrooms). At the end of the day, after everyone has thrown their laundry for the day in it, wash, dry & fold it. Put it away in the morning! The amount is manageable and easier to stay on top of.

  • 2. Time Yourself

If there is something that you have to do regularly that you find yourself not wanting to do, the next time you do it, time yourself. Then, the next time you have to do it, you know exactly how long it’s going to take you and becomes mentally easier to talk yourself into doing it. (Ex : it took me 10 minutes to unload the dishwasher. Next time I don’t want to unload the dishwasher I just have to remind myself that it will only take me 10 minutes, and I can do anything for 10 minutes.)

  • 3. Print Your Recipes

Keep a folder or binder with all of your go-to favorite recipes that you use regularly. This will keep you from having to use your phone while you are cooking. Not only will it keep your phone clean, but it also gives you an opportunity to unplug for a little while.
