Savannah, Ga
A few weekends ago we loaded the kids up and drove 4 hours to Savannah for the weekend. It was such a good trip, and honestly I think it is one of my favorite places that we have been with our whole family. For our family, the two things that make a place kid-friendly are
Super walkable (or in my kid’s case, scooterable)
Great parks, outdoor activities, and not too much else
I have found that when we take our kids to a place where there is a lot we want to see and do, that is when expectations get too high, we all feel rushed, and the wheels fall off. I love Savannah, because there are great parks, a great (simple) kid’s museum, and not much more than that! We didn’t feel the need to go, go go, in order to do everything, so we were able to move at a slower pace and just enjoy time together.
When the baby needed to nap, half of us went shopping and the other half went back to the hotel and took a bubble bath in the big tub! We ate a lot of good food, sampled a lot of candy, drank a lot of coffee, scootered / walked about 12 miles over the course of 3 days, walked by the river, played at the park, went to the children’s museum, shopped, and hung out. At the end of the trip we were ready to come home, but in a satisfied sort of way — and dare I say even pretty relaxed?
